By Mexican law, U. S. manufacturing plants located in Mexico can import their raw materials duty-free; but they must return any hazardous waste they generate from those materials back to the U. S. for disposal.

The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) has launched this on-line directory for locating hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) and recycling facilities. The TSD Directory contains over 250 TSD facilities.

Using the Border Center TSD Directory, you can:

  • search the database for TSD facilities that can accept your specific waste type,
  • sort search results by distance from various ports of entry,
  • locate a point of contact at a TSD facility,
  • learn details about specific TSD facilities (e.g., types of waste management methods, quantities of specific waste types managed, EPA compliance record).
By contacting multiple facilities, you can locate a facility that is cost competitive and meets your disposal/recovery needs.
