Michigan Solid Waste Landfill Database

A Canadian-trash hauling trailer rests atop a tipper after dumping its load at a landfill in Wayne County. (2003 file photo by J. Kyle Keener/Detroit Free Press).

This resource contains data for fiscal year (FY) 2000 through 2005 (based on fiscal year Oct. 1 to Sept. 30) taken from annual reports on solid waste landfilled published by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. These reports are available on MI DEQ's website. Using this resource, you can quickly find, on a county-by-county basis, the quantity of solid waste disposed of in landfills for fiscal years 2000 to 2004 and the source of the wastes (i.e., MI counties, states, and/or Canada). The resource can display the results separately for type II (municipal) and type III (certain wastes generated in industrial and construction/demolition activities) wastes, or on a combined basis.

The Fiscal Year 2005 Annual Report on Solid Waste Landfilled was released by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and has been added to this resource.
